The seminary belongs to the Catholic Diocese of Gboko, Benue State, and Central Nigeria. It started as a mobile school in Korinya and Gboko before it was finally established in Otukpo in 1955. The Seminary is named after the first Bishop..

To provide a solid education that nurtures young men who would become good followers of the Church and good citizens of the larger society.

Spiritual Formation

The school has an integral programme of spiritual formation. The day begins with morning prayers and the Eucharistic celebration. Afternoon, Evening and Night prayers are said in common with the whole seminary community participating. The Angelus is said three times a day. The seminarians begin each academic year with an Annual Retreat. There is a monthly Day of Recollection (Retreat) aimed at rejuvenating the spiritual life of the seminarians. Students are encouraged to join pious societies in the school. There is Spiritual Director who oversees the spiritual life of individual seminarians and guides them.
